Pleasant Hill is a city in Contra Costa County, California. Nearby cities include: Martinez and Concord to the north and east, and Walnut Creek and Lafayette in the west and south. Pleasant Hill has a total area of about 7 miles square. Pleasant Hill was incorporated in 1961. Major development started in the ‘20s to turn a mostly agricultural land into an area subdivided for family houses. According to the 2020 census the population is about 35,000.
The racial makeup of Pleasant Hill is 75% White, 14% Asian, 12% Hispanic or Latino with the balance other races. The population 20% under the age of 18, 10% aged 18 to 24, 27% aged 25 to 44, 30% aged 45 to 64, and 14% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was about 41 years. 62% are home owners and 38% are renters. As of 2019 the average home price was $810K.
